"Rich" Halloween Writing

Students are learning how to write descriptive texts. Using "rich" vocabulary; adjectives, words that describe what we see, feel, hear, smell, taste...anything that helps the reader visualize.

Our food drive is in full swing! St. William is collecting non perishables food items until October 31st! Please donate if you can!

Deaf Blind Presentation

We were fortunate to have Miss Patti join us from W. Ross MacDonald (a school for blind and deafblind students in Brantford). She is a Deaf Blind Consultant with our school board. Miss Patti came to help us understand, and to teach us how to positively interact with students that have visual and hearing impairment.

 

Miss Patti brought low vision goggles, ear plugs and special headphones.

 
 
 


It was a very informative and eye opening experience. Thank you Miss Patti!

Fire Prevention

The firefighters from Lakeshore came for a visit to St. William school. We learned all about smoke detectors (don't forget to check them every month and change the batteries twice a year!). We learned about the importance of an escape plan (make sure you have a meeting place in case of an emergency) and stop, drop and roll in case students experience a fire.

This week we studied Andy Goldsworthy's art. He is a British sculptor , land artist and photographer who creates art out of the gifts of nature; leaves, twigs, stones, snow...

Math Talk #5

Greenhouse Guest

What an awesome presentation we had by Mr. Mancini! Mr. Mancini works at a greenhouse and shared an engaging powerpoint on what it is like to work at a greenhouse and some really cool facts about what goes on behind the glass!

Students were so interested in the planting, predators, watering/flooding, and size of the greenhouse. A lot of excellent questions were asked!
